Headwaters of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Suitable for almost all age groups, the Nam Lang River combines the thrill of Class 3 and 4 whitewater through thickly forested thickly forested canyons, with a closer insight into a people and way of life unchanged for centuries. The Nam Lang River in without a doubt one of the most exciting journeys you can undertake in Myanmar.

Opening: The Lisu is now scheduled for an opening in October 2006. It will be open with eight completed bungalows and accepts its first season’s bookings up to the 30th April 2007.

A Deposit: of 50% of your trip cost per person is required to secure a holiday booking. The balance will need to be least 30 days before the departure date. If the full amount has not been received by this time, the Lisu reserves the right to cancel all booking made on behalf of the client. Booking made within 30 days of the departure date must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Please note that prices are based on costs and exchange rates at the time of printing. We reserve the right to adjust tour prices.

Amendments: Please note that changes made by you to your booking will incur an amendment fee off US $ 50 per person amendment. In addition, a cancellation fee may apply.
Cancellations: All cancellations must be advised in writing by person who made the booking. Cancellations are accepted from the date the written confirmation is received and applied to refund guidelines below. Depending on the reason for cancellation these charges may be recoverable on your insurance policy.

Flights: Bad weather in mountainous regions can cause flight delays. Please make allowances when booking onward journeys. We cannot be responsible for any charges you might incur as a result of these delays. Departure dates will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. This will coincide with Air Bagan’s new scheduled service to Putao on those days. Using the services of Air Bagan (F-100, ATR-72/42) will afford all agents greater flexibility in marketing our product in conjunction with other destinations in Myanmar, and will allow us to offer all agents a more competitive rate in our introductory season.

Refunds: Are not made for unused services.

Health and fitness: We strongly recommend a visit to your doctor and dentist your holiday. Your doctor will advise current inoculation requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be forwarded with your booking form. Older clients or clients with pre-existing medical conditions may require a doctor’s letter confirming their fitness for the trip. During your holiday you are under the direction of your Trip Leader and he/ she has total authority to determine your suitability to participate or continue.

Changes to your Itinerary: Our tours are organized many months in advance and it may become necessary to make an alteration to your tour. Where practical, we will advise you of such changes (other than minor changes) before commencement of the tour. These tours go into remote areas and changes in itinerary may occur because of weather, illness or accident, civil unrest or force majeure, after your starts. The Trip Leader has full responsibility for taking the action he/she deems appropriate.

Travel Insurance: It is a condition of booking that all expedition members must be protected by their own Medical Evacuation Insurance, which provides for helicopter rescue. The Purpose of insurance is to provide proper coverage suited to the specific needs of Adventure Tourism and in the case of and case of emergency, works quickly and efficiently. Your insurance should also cover accidents, health and loss or damage to personal effects.
Day 01 Arrival Yangon
Welcome at the airport. Transfer and check in at the hotel.
Visit the National Museum-05 storey building which displays all about Myanmar, mainly the Lion Throne of the last king of Myanmar, who exiled to India in 1886, the Botahtaung Pagoda- the combination of stupa & temple, the colonial area, the Sule Pagoda-the landmark of Yangon City Centre, which has been enshrined the hair relic of Buddha, the Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha Image-72 meters long huge colossal image.
Finally, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda-one of the wonders of the world where we can observe the ways of life of Buddhists such as offering the water, candles, flowers, etc. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 02 Flight to Putao
Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Putao. Upon arrival, transfer to the Lisu and leisure.
Overnight.

 

Day 03 Nam Lang
An hours drive from The Lisu we reach Upper Sangaung which marks the end of the road and the beginning of the trek into the Nam Lang Valley. We trek at a leisurely pace for five to six hours to our first jungle camp just over the pass. In traditional style the porters carry all the expedition food and equipment ahead, leaving us free to enjoy this scenic trek through untouched subtropical forest and giant bamboo.

 

Day 04 Nam Lang
Three to Four hours walk downhill through more jungle brings us down to the Nam Lang River and the starting point for our rafting journey. The first river canyon is marked by a rattan and bamboo bridge across the river, and our stunning riverside camp is just below the bridge. It is here that we say goodbye to our porters. The rest of the afternoon we can relax and swim in the canyou’s beautiful swimming holes or explore the near by Rawang Village of Wanglai Dam.

 

Day 05 Nam Lang
After breakfast everyone is fitted with their specialist rafting gear, while the trip leader and safety kayaker give an extensive lesson in river safety and paddling technique. We pass by the remote Lius village of Nam Ze, at the foot of more snowcapped peaks. This is our last contact with ‘civilization’ as we take an isolated loop into the lower canyons. Two hours below this village and we encounter some excellent technical rapids. From here we raft down to our final river beach camp at the beginning of the second canyon.

 

Day 06 Nam Lang
After a hearty breakfast we start the final and most challenging days rafting. An hour later, we reach three exciting and technical rapids stacked in succession in a tight bedrock canyon. The trio of rapids ends with a bang in a series of drops between massive boulders. From here it is about three hours rafting and leisurely cruising back to our home at The Lisu, where a glass of champagne and long hot shower awaits.

 

Day 07 Flight to Mandalay
Morning, breakfast at the Lisu Lodge. Flight to Mandalay and transfer to hotel. Leisure and overnight in Mandalay.

 

Day 08 Excursion Amarapura, Sagaing & Ava
Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Mahamuni Buddha Image-one of the most sacred Buddha Images in Myanmar with 01 ton of gold-gilded and many pieces of precious stones, such as diamonds, rubies, pearls, sapphires, emeralds, etc. Excursion to Amarapura (01:00 hour), an ancient capital ofMyanmar, where we can observe the life of over 1000 monks at Mahagandaryon Monastery & silk weaving factory. Proceed to Sagaing, where we can observe the fascinating landscapes of the Ayeyarwaddy River from serene Sagaing Hill, the place of over 700 monasteries. Continue to Ava and visit by horse carts to Maenu Okkyaung Monastery-built by the chief queen in 1818 for the venerable chief monk is the unique brick type building of 19th century, Nan Myint Tower-27 meter masonry high is declined due to the earthquake in 1811, Bargayar Monastery-well known for its wood carving with 267 teak pillars. Come back to Amarpaura and enjoy the sunset by crossing over U Bein bridge. Overnight in Mandalay.

 

Day 09 River cruise Mingun & sightseeing Mandalay
Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Boat excursion to Mingun (01 hour) along mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. During the river cruise, we may enjoy the fascinating landscapes of the river as well as the daily life of the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. Visit Mingun pagoda, which was dedicated to be the highest one but remained as the biggest pile of bricks & the biggest ringing bell of 90 tons, the unusual Myatheindan pagoda, which represents Mt. Meru and the abode of celestial beings. Back to Mandalay and visit to the traditional handicraft workshops such as, marble carving, gold leaves beating, Kuthodaw Pagoda, which houses 729 marble slabs sculptured the teaching of Buddha, Shwenandaw (Golden Palace) Monastery, which is the masterpiece of wood carving, etc. Finally enjoy the sunset on top of Mandalay Hill where we can admire the beauty of Mandalay City, Shan Plateau, etc. Come back to hotel and leisure. Overnight in Mandalay.

 

Day 10 Flight to Bagan.
Sightseeing Bagan

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bagan. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Visit local market, where we can understand the daily life of local people, the Shwezigon Pagoda-the glory of Bagan, which was built over 900 years ago, the Htilominlo Temple-the best pilaster carving, the Nathtaukkyaung Monastery-monastery made of teak wood at the bank of the river, the Ananda Temple-the masterpiece of Bagan, the Gubyaukgyi Temple-the best mural paintings of 11th century, the Manuha Temple-huge Buddha Images in standing and reclining positions, the Dhamayangyi Temple-the biggest and the finest brickworks temple in Bagan, the Sulamani Temple-the 12th century temple, which is proud for its colourful wall paintings, the lacquerware workshopthe unique of Bagan, etc. Finally, enjoy the sunset on top of a pagoda or temple. Overnight in Bagan.

 

Day 11 Flight to Yangon.

Sightseeing & departure.
Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, visit Bogyoke maket (the biggest one in Yangon). In the evening, transfer to Yangon International Airport for the departure flight.
